Pipistrella's Film Review: MAR ADENTRO - THE SEA INSIDE (2004)
Based on real facts of life of Ramon Sampedro, a sailor who after an accident in his youth is left tetraplegic. Ramon (brillantly played by Javier Bardem) remains tied to a bed during near 30 years and wishes to "die with dignity" or as he says:"I consider life to be a right, not an obligation". Ramon "managed to die" but away from his home and illegally... The SEA INSIDE /MAR ADENTRO is a film about a very difficult topic of death by euthanasia. Nevertheless, it is a film that celebrates life.
Pipistrella's Film Review: IL POSTINO (1995)
IL POSTINO is loosely based on the novel "El cartero de Neruda" by Antonio Skármeta from Chile [a grandson of a family who immigrated there from Dalmatia:-)]. The film is full of lyrical tenderness and quietness and a magnificent Mediterranean scenery... A simple man Mario(Massimo Troisi) in his search for love discovers poetry and finds his teacher in Pablo Neruda.
